VerdeSpace was founded in 2011 by Adaeze Emenike, a graduate of the Architectural Association in London who returned to Lagos with a singular vision: to prove that world-class design wasn't exclusive to New York or Paris. It could — and should — exist on African soil.

Over the past 14 years, we've grown from a two-person studio in Yaba into a 32-strong team operating across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Enugu. We've completed 340+ projects, earned 28 industry awards, and built a reputation as Nigeria's most trusted premium design practice.

Fourteen Years of Growth

From a small studio apartment in Yaba to one of Africa's most respected design practices, here are the milestones that define VerdeSpace.

2011

VerdeSpace founded by Adaeze Emenike in Yaba, Lagos. First residential project: a 3-bedroom apartment in Surulere.

2014

First commercial project — rebranding the reception and communal areas of a Victoria Island law firm. Team grows to 8.

2016

Launch of landscape design department. Won first RIBAN Design Excellence Award for residential category.

2019

Opened Abuja satellite office. Completed landmark Eko Continental Hotel lobby redesign. Team reaches 20.

2022

Named Best Interior Design Studio in Nigeria by Architecture Digest Africa. Surpassed 300 completed projects.

2025

340+ projects. 32 team members. Launched VerdeSpace Academy, training the next generation of Nigerian designers.
